Sports Alliance is now ISO 27001 certified.
DNV, the world’s leading classification society, has audited Sports Alliance’s Information Security Management System (ISMS) and awarded the ISO/IEC 27001: 2013 certification.
Sports Alliance manages fan data for more than 140 sports clubs in Europe and beyond. That means client clients must trust us to keep their fan data safe. This trust makes data protection and GDPR compliance essential for our business.
“Our motto is ‘Personalising Sport’, which is all about using data to personalise the communication with fans. Fans trust their club with their contact details, their favourite team, their favourite player, and all data a club may ask for. The fan’s passion for their clubs, our clients, means we have to go the extra mile to keep that fan’s data secure at all times,” says Henk-Frits Verkerk, Data Protection Officer at Sports Alliance. “For us, that meant that we had to make data protection part of our core business, and introducing an Information Security Management System was the way to achieve that. The ISO 27001 certificate is proof that we have achieved our objective.“
We spent a year implementing our information security management system. In the summer of 2022, everything about how we handle and protect our client’s data, was audited. “We, as an organisation, learned much about data protection during the implementation and the auditing process. And that knowledge, regardless of the ISO certification, really helped us improve our security processes. The successful certification is a big compliment to our team and our approach to data protection.” concludes Henk-Frits.
